I have finally decided to choose the film project for my AICE Media Studies course. I enjoy creating and producing, and I also enjoy collaborating with others. This film requires analyzing and researching other films of a certain genre, and applying those characteristics to one's own film opening. It also requires thorough planning for a script, a shotlist, and a storyboard, in addition to scouting locations, casting characters, and scheduling the film. The final product will be an opening of a film that will contain these important components while conveying a message to the audience, in a way that may be similar to other film openings of its genre. The genre will most likely be either drama or action. I will be working with Maya Rudo as my partner for the project. Together we will be organizing the production of the opening, in which one of us might help develop key ideas and details while the other might help organize and execute the production of the film.
The first shot is an insert of Elf #1's feet as he walks down the hallway and approaches the conference room. It attempts to create a feeling of earnestness and curiosity as to where the board member is going and what will ensue. The second shot is a mid-shot of the Board of the North Pole at the end of the conference table, with the President of the Board and Elf #2 waiting for Elf #1 to sit in his empty seat. This tries to create an effect of seriousness and urgency to the situation of Santa Claus being fired. The third shot is an insert of a "Missing Rudolph" poster. This shot signifies the importance of Santa Claus's faults, as seen by losing his most important reindeer. The fourth shot listed is a wide shot of the Easter Bunny entering the conference room and slowly walking out after listening to the commotion.
