The cost was $5.99 to rent for 48 hours and $14.99 for purchasing the film. In addition, it was available on the website SeeTheInterview.com operated by Kernel.com. It was later spread to file sharing websites. On December 25, 2014, Sony pictures released the film to 331 independent cinemas. Three days later, the film was released on iTunes. On December 31, Sony pictures expanded distribution of the film to more than 580 theaters and released to more video-on-demand systems including AT&T U-verse TV, Cablevision, Charter, Comcast, Cox, DirecTV, Time Warner Cable and Verizon FiOS. Customers are able to rent or purchase The Interview on Verizon and Walmart's online video service Vudu. On January 24, the film was able to be streamed on Netflix. Sony Pictures announced that The Interview would be released in theatres in United Kingdom and Ireland on February 6, but would not be distributed digitally in the United Kingdom. Lastly, The Interview was distributed through Blu-ray Disc and DVD on February 17, 2015 for home media.
